A WIDE VARIETY OF WINTER ACTIVITIES

Take an active part in Salzburg’s winter dream
The region surrounding Lake Fuschl offers so many different winter activities that you’ll be spoilt for choice! Wrapped in a cosy blanket you can explore the winter landscape from a horse-drawn sleigh. Those wanting to be more active, don’t have to look very hard: inspirational snow-shoes walks through the snow-covered woods are offered by our guide Mrs. Brandstätter every Thursday and snow-shoes can be hired here in the village.

Another highlight in the region is the feeding of the wild deer in the nearby village of Hintersee. Nature lovers can watch over 100 stags and deer from a hide-out just 30 yards from the feeding ground as they are fed with hay and beetroot.

If you’re looking something more daring, why not try out tobogganing? A lovely walk through the woods will take you to the romantic Waldhof Alm mountainside restaurant. A steaming cup of mulled wine or tea will warm you up in no time. Whilst at the Alm you can watch, or even try your hand at a round of Austrian curling and when it’s time to go home you just jump onto you toboggan and whizz down the run to the village.

Guests staying in Fuschl are always drawn to the lake and are enchanted by its beauty. A well signposted walk is the ideal way to get to know the lake and the surrounding countryside, even in winter. The path leads you along the shore line and after about an hour you’ll reach the Castle Fishery where you can stop to rest and perhaps enjoy a refreshing drink and some delicious smoked trout. The fish is smoked traditionally over birch wood by the castle fisher himself, this traditional method of curing gives the Lake Fuschl trout and char a very special and unique flavour.
