Climb the mountains Schafberg or Zwölferhorn or take the comfortable alternative provided by the nostalgic Zwölferhorn cable car or Austria’s steepest cogwheel railway “Schafbergbahn” in St. Wolfgang.
The Dachstein, the highest mountain in the Salzkammergut Lake District, has several natural spectacles to offer. The fascinating sculptures formed in ice and stone in the “Dachstein Riesen” Ice Caves, the “Mammoth Cave” which impresses with its size and the breath-taking “5 Fingers” observation platform.
In the springtime you can witness the daffodil festival or “Narzissenfest” which is held annually in the Ausseerland region just a short drive from the hotel. The event attracts visitors from all around the world, celebrating tradition and local customs in a unique way.

Of course the Salzkammergut Lake District is full of cultural highlights as well. Sound of Music fans should definitely not miss out on the basilica St. Michael in Mondsee.
Also the nearby imperial town Bad Ischl is always worth a visit. We would especially recommend a trip to the “Kaiservilla” – the onetime summer domicile of Emperor Franz Josef, a ride on the “Katrin” cable car and a visit to the “Lehár Festival”. If you have time, you could also take a break, relax and have a swim or sauna in the “Eurotherme” spa baths and an absolute must is coffee and cake at the famous “Zauner” confectioners.
The UNESCO World Heritage Site Hallstatt justifiably attracts countless visitors every year. Besides taking in the town’s beauty during your sightseeing tour, we can also recommend a visit to the fascinating salt mines “Salzwelten” in Hallstatt or Altaussee – a fascinating day out for young and old alike.
Great fun for all the family
High speed adventure can be had on the summer toboggan runs in Fuschl am See and the surrounding region. The theme park in Straßwalchen and the adventure park Abarena are just a short drive away and offer families a great day out. Animal lovers should head off for the “Gut Aiderbichl” animal sanctuary near Henndorf, the wildlife park “Kleefeld” near Strobl or the adventure farm with western riding in the neighbouring village of Faistenau. The “Salzburger Freilichtmuseum” in Großgmain is an open air museum which will take you on a journey back in time through 600 years of Austrian history. A visit to the Salt Mines in Dürrnberg near Hallein and the “Eisriesenwelt” ice caves in Werfen are always fascinating experiences. It goes without saying that the region offers a host of opportunities for swimming and bathing in the numerous lakes and spa baths.
