Sporty (holi)days in the Salzkammergut Lake District

The magnificent countryside that surrounds the hotel is dotted with idyllic mountain lakes which for the backdrop for ideal cycling routes through fantastic and diversified scenery. The routes offer great alternatives for all levels of fitness, from gentle family tours to challenging mountain trails. Discovering the region on two wheels is the ideal way to spend the day and for those of you who need a little help to get to where you want to go there are e-bikes available to you.

The “Salzkammergut Radweg” is a cycling tour through the local Lake District which stretches across 345 km and takes you through some of the most breath-taking scenery Austria has to offer. You can start the tour in any of the villages along route. You decide whether you want to do the whole tour or just enjoy one leg of the tour.

Enjoy a day of mountain-biking through the Lake Fuschl Region and take in the beautiful valleys and impressive peaks.

  • Round the “Faistenauer Schafberg” peak – 33 km – 590m altitude difference
  • Up to the “Zwölferhorn” peak  – 26 km – 900m altitude difference
  • A round tour from Fuschl – St. Wolfgang – St. Gilgen – Fuschl  53 km – 1700m altitude difference

And for guests who would like to explore the Salzkammergut Lake District by e-bike there are plenty of rental shops and recharging stations throughout the region and indeed in the City of Salzburg.

TIP : The Hotel Mohrenwirt, just a couple of minutes’ walk from the Hotel Seerose here in Fuschl am See, has a wide range of excellent bikes and e-bikes for rent. 

Running in the Lake Fuschl area

This is an excellent region for runners and joggers with ideal trails through fantastic unspoilt countryside. Enjoy the clean mountain air while you run past sapphire blue Alpine lakes, dramatic mountain peaks, fragrant forests and lush mountain pastures.  

One of the most beautiful and popular running trails in the area is the 11.8 km path around Lake Fuschl. The trail lies, for the most part, next to the shoreline so it’s the ideal way to get to know the lake and enjoy the breath-taking scenery.

Find your own rhythm as you choose the ideal trail that suits your needs best – whether you simply want to go on a gentle jog, get rid of excess energy with your friends or relieve your stress levels, the picturesque region has exactly the trail you’re looking for.
